About

The light
between times.

HALFLIGHT is a print studio. Each piece is a colour reading taken from a single moment — one place, one minute — and issued as a small numbered edition.

The name is the work

A piece is called for the hour and the place it was taken. Nothing is added to it, and nothing is interpreted for you. If the title says 21:03 Mar Menor, that is where the light was and that is when.

Drops by hour

Work is released in three collections, sorted by the time of day the light belongs to.

Editions are not reprinted

Runs are small and numbered by hand. When a run is complete it stays complete — the piece is not reissued at another size, in another colourway, or at another time.

Notes, not descriptions

Every piece carries a short note on what was happening when it was taken. They are written the way a photographer writes in a margin — what the weather was doing, what was on the air, who was around. They are not there to tell you what to feel.

Midday on the pan, with nothing in the air. The dune held its colour all the way to the ridge and the cracked floor threw the light straight back up.
